The bedrooms overlook the pool and allow you the privacy to come and go as you wish and to treat the garden and terraces as your own.

With a room opening onto a wide and shady balcony or floral terrace you will never be short of a spot for quiet reading, the odd glass of wine or just to enjoy the scenery.  Each room is south facing and has an en-suite shower room.  There are four double bedrooms (one of which has an adjoining bedroom with bunk beds). There is also one twin bedded room and one triple bedroom.  For cooler months each room has an electric heater.

The terraced pool area is situated below the bedrooms and there is plenty of garden furniture, allowing you to enjoy fully this beautiful pool area.  This heated 12 x 5 meter salt-water pool provides an ideal focus for your holiday.

At breakfast we serve a selection of croissants or baguettes from our local boulangerie, along with preserves, yogurts, fruit, cereal, coffee, tea and fruit juice.  Breakfast is often served as a buffet, allowing you to chose whether to eat inside or outside on the terrace. Evening meals are often eaten French style around one big table. In summer meals are usually eaten on one of the terraces enjoying the scent of the flowers and the bird, frog and cricket song.  We provide evening meals at least 4/5 nights a week, so that you may also take the opportunity to visit some of the lovely local restaurants.

During the heat of summer we aim to provide plenty of locally grown salads (often as a buffet) – served with local meats, cheeses or homemade flans.  Locally grown fruits and vegetables (often from our own garden) are an essential addition to any meal and here we make no exception. Robert arranges regular BBQs where guests can enjoy amongst other delights ‘magret de canard’ cooked over a bed of herbs. Tea, coffee and cold drinking water are available throughout the day on a help yourself basis at no extra charge. Snack lunches can easily be provided at a small extra cost.

Things to do in the local area

Situated in the Midi Pyrenees between the beautiful bastide villages of Lauzerte and Montaigu de Quercy, The B&B (just outside the lovely small village of Touffailles) is an ideal base for visiting many local medieval villages, markets, regional attractions and vineyards.

This green and fertile corner of France is well known for its hilltop bastides and fortified villages.  There are incredibly beautiful and unspoiled places with tumbling flowers, blue shutters and carved stonework dotted across the rolling landscape, intermingling with stone built farms, gaggles of foie gras producing geese, the occasional chateau, vineyards, sunflowers and fruit orchards.

Holidays at Las Razes Sunflowers in a local field.

Famous for its sunflowers, peaches, kiwi, asparagus, cherries, nectarines, melons, vines and prunes, the local countryside changes weekly from the lush greens and delicate blossoms of early spring through to the fields of ripening wheat and barley edged with poppies, to the vivid yellow of the summer sunflowers.

Local Villages

There are many places well worth visiting whilst staying at Las Razes.  Here we mention just a few; we will be happy to advise you further whilst you are staying.

Lauzerte (8km)

Holidays at Las Razes On the main square in Lauzerte.

Nicknamed the Toledo of Quercy, it has an interesting square, which looks as if it has been turned up like a page of a book. This exquisite bastide village has a choice of restaurants, bars, shops and markets (the Saturday morning market is lovely – taking place in the medieval square amongst the many little cafes).

Holidays at Las Razes View from the old entrance to Lauzerte.

The architecture and stonework found in this stunning village (listed as one of France’s 100 most beautiful) are well worth spending a little time wandering amongst.  From the top of this medieval village the views of the surrounding countryside are breathtaking.

Lauzerte is a stopping place for pilgrims on the famous Le Chemin de St Jacques de Compostella – and many walkers can be seen trudging south towards Spain.

Montaigu de Quercy (8km)

Montaigu was the site of a 12c castle built by Raymond V of Toulouse. There are many small streets and churches to explore and all local services can be found easily – even parking is not a problem!  This atmospheric lively village has a range of local shops, a typical French market (not to be missed) each Saturday and a stunning large leisure lake.

Other villages worthy of a visit include Montcuq, Rocqucor, Penne D’Agenais, Tournon D’Agenais, Beauville, Bourg de Visa, Montjoi  ……. The list just goes on and on.

Towns worth visiting include

Moissac -with its spectacular Abbey, cloisters and magnificent waterways.
Cahors - with its mediaeval centre and bridges.

The nearest markets are in Montaigu de Quercy, (8km), Lauzerte (8km), Rocqucor (12 km) and Montcuq (14km).

Things you can do

To help you pass the time there are a number of things you can do here including the following:
Swimming in our heated pool , walking, relaxing in the garden, inside games – including Snooker, table-football and darts, outside games and inside quiet-time – please have a look below for more information.

Heated swimming pool
Sitting on its own sheltered terrace overlooking fields and woods – this heated pool makes a perfect centrepiece for your holiday.  The state-of-the-art salt-treatment system means – no more reddened eyes! The water remains silky soft and does not damage your hair or skin as you might find with a chlorine-pool.  The pool is heated from Easter to the end of September and if the weather remains favourable into October.  Whether you fancy a whole day relaxing on the pool terrace or a quick dip after sightseeing you will find the pool soon becomes a favorite spot.

All our guests are welcome to use the pool when staying with us – we only ask that you bring a pool towel with you.

Walking
The local area is full of delightful walks and we have a supply of maps to help you plan a route.  Whether you are an adventurous walker or just want to take a stroll before or after a meal – you will find something to suit.  Walking during the later and earlier months of the season can be a real joy – we are happy to provide picnics.

Relaxing in the garden
This is the most popular way to pass the time.  The garden is perfect for reading, painting or catching up on some sleep.  There are many different places to find some peace, or admire the wild flowers and bird life on your own.

Inside games – including Snooker, table football and darts
We have a three-quarter snooker table, table football game and dartboard in the large converted barn.  These are ideal for an evening game or for escaping the mid-day heat.

Outside activities
Table tennis makes a popular way of keeping our 'sporting' visitors occupied.  There is an all weather table situated on the terrace.
Pétanque – there is plenty of room for organising your own game of pétanque – we have the equipment and space – you just supply the players.
Bikes – we have four adult bikes, which you are welcome to borrow to help you explore the local area.

Tennis and Children’s Play Area is available 1km away
We hold a key to the village court and guests are welcome to borrow this.  There is also a practice area and a children’s play park.  We have some rackets and balls should anyone wish to borrow them.

Inside quiet-time
In the dining room there is a comfy seating area, log burning stove (for cooler evenings), English library, board games and a DVD player with a selection of films.
