By 1631 little remained of the original structure and it was rebuilt not as a fortification but as a type of hotel for travelers. Today you will have the antiquity of the 1631 structure and the modern conveniences of the 1994 renovation. Come experience the "magic of Chateau de Lignan" To visit the Chateau de Lignan you will fly into Beziers or Montpellier Air Inter from Paris or TGV to Montpellier. Pick up your Avis rental car there and proceed a short ride to the Chateau. At the Chateau you are only a few miles from the Mediterranean Sea and its beautiful beaches of pure sand. The Spanish border is less than 2 hours away if you want to spend the day in Barcelona. Or you might like to drive to the tiny country of Andorra perched high in the Pyrnees Mountains just a two and a half hours drive away. Of course the famous wall fortress city of Carcassonne is only an hours drive through the beautiful landscape of the Minervois. Beziers itself is worth a day. Don’t forget that the Canal du Midi is a few miles away and offers day trips on the canal. The staff at the reception speaks excellent English.
