Le Montrachet
Le Montrachet is
a stately
village Manor House located in Montrachet, the village that produces one of the best and
most famous white wines of France. It is a 3 hour drive from Paris.
The dining room is a quiet setting with natural elegance enhanced by the welcoming
smile of Thierry and Suzanne Gazagnes. Suzanne is from Toronto originally so language is
no problem at all. Breakfast and dinner are included and you will be offered a vast
selection of traditional dishes brought up to date with the personal touch of master chef
Michel Bezout who uses only fresh local produce. Sommelier Jean-Claude Wasserand has a
cellar full of those incredible red and white burgundies for your tasting pleasure.
During your stay your days will be filled with visits to the vineyards of Cotes de
Beaune, Pommard, Meursault and Volnay. Your first wine tasting may be at the Chateau de
Pommard or a 17th century cellar in Meursault. Dont miss visits to the vineyards of
Cotes de Nuits, Nuits St Georges, Vosne Romance, Bougeot, and Gevrey-Chambertin.
Dont overlook the famous 15th century Hospices of the old
Dukes of Burgundy in Beaune.
A highlight will be a visit to the Chateau du Clos de Bougeot,
home of the famous Chevaliers du Tastevin.
Burgundy is not just wine. Visit Semur-en-Auxois a little
walled medieval town typical of the Burgundy Region. Drive over to the Abbey Fontenay in Montbard which is listed in the UNESCO as a world
heritage sight. Auxerrre is a short distance away and worth
the journey. On the way you can sample some Chablis.
